Giddy on up! Let us take you on the ultimate ride through lunch with the Central Coast’s dreamy dining spot, Saddles Mount White.
Just one wrong turn and you’ll miss it. Tucked within the winding roads of New South Wales’ Mount White is, quite possibly, the best long lunch destination. Trot on over and welcome to Saddles Mount White.
Self described as a quintessential Australian dining destination, fitting to their name, Saddles Mount White is all about horse-themed decor and delicious modern Australian cuisine. But, surprising to some, their location is meticulously manicured providing that luxe long lunch feel.
Owned by John Singleton, who set out to create a restaurant that showcased the natural beauty of Mount White, brought the vision of Saddles to life when he partnered with acclaimed architects White + Dickson as well as interior designer Michelle Leslie.
Seamlessly integrating the surrounding flora, fauna and love for horses, Saddles Mount White has since become an institution and Central Coast landmark since their opening in 2018.
Between the untamed landscape, Saddles brings in touches of wildlife integrated through their homestead-like building where you’ll find saddle stools seated along the marble bar, crackling sandstone fireplaces, and classy gold trimmings. Making your way outside, on the scenic wrap-around deck, guests are seated on cosy black couch-like chairs, with heavy wood tables adorned with dried natives.
As for the food menu, don’t expect anything as simple as carrots and apples. Instead, you’ll find the likes of Kingfish Sashimi, House Made Bread, Pan Seared Duck Breast, Crumbed Lamb Cutlets, plenty of share plates and sides. As for dessert, Tiramisu, Spiced Berry Dacquoise and, our personal favourite, the Mango & Strawberry Crumble all make up the menu.
Working with local artisan producers and farmers, both head chef Kodi Southgate and the Saddles team take pride in their paddock to plate philosophy.
Of course, for your visit we recommend to trough your way through their impressive selection of wines, beers and cocktails. But be sure to save some room for a pick-me-up, and head on over to their adorable coffee and pastries truck in the nearby courtyard.
One of the best restaurants on the Central Coast, Saddles perfectly brings to life the rugged and charismatic beauty of its surrounding landscape. Don’t say neigh, make up your own mind and pay a visit to Saddles Mount White to experience exactly why it is world famed.
