Vegans are rejoicing, and we are too, thanks to Vincent’s Marketplace gracing Brunswick Street.
The godfather of vegetarian and plant-based diets in Melbourne, Vincent’s, has come a long way from its original enterprise, Vincent’s Vegetarian Food. When he opened back in 1996, his customers were a niche section of the community who ate a vegetarian, vegan or plant-based diet for personal or cultural reasons. Fast forward 23 years and that customer base has grown exponentially as global trends see an increasing number of consumers turning away from meat and animal products, overwhelmingly citing environmental and moral motivations.
And with that growth comes a great responsibility – to provide a sensational range of vegan products, for visitors to consume and take home and cook with. Hence the opening of Vincent’s Marketplace. The comprehensive vegan supermarket is also a small cafe, all under one roof, which is home to a variety of vegan treats, products and St. Ali coffee.
The team at Vincent’s travel frequently in search of new and exciting products, importing goods that are seldom found elsewhere in Melbourne as well as a range of Vincent’s own products that are exclusive to the store. Vegan fried chicken, chicken nuggets, bacon, party food (springrolls, satays) and yum cha items (dumplings, buns). Yes, vegan yum cha – sign us up!
