World Rum Day is August 16, and to celebrate we’ve got three deliciously exciting cocktails to share with you.
Inspired by a cultural exchange organised by Appleton Estate, these cocktails bring out the Jamaican flair you love to see in your rum.
The concept for the exchange came about as a driver for Appletone Estate to help break down cultural barriers and bring people together.
“Aussies have always been pretty open-minded but as research shows, world events can have a significant cultural impact, and in this instance they’ve created a divide,’’ says Appleton Estate Marketing Director, Nicole Stanners.
Aussie born and bred Leah Stevens and Jamaican-born Sheldon Spencer come from completely different backgrounds, but both share a passion for cocktail making. To shake up their perspectives the pair swapped countries and immersed themselves into their new culture.
To show Aussies how mixing perspectives can bring us one step closer to unison, the duo created a cocktail called the Appleton Estate RAW which you’ll find below, along with two other rum recipes to wet your whistle.
