As summer loosens it’s belt and sits in for a long siesta, Melbournians are being treated to a new grazing spot along Bourke Street.
Meet your new Burger Project, offering their well-known burgers alongside speedy service and a lounging atmosphere. And it’s opening in two days time on Wednesday, January 10!
Spread across two floors, the new 170-seat eatery accommodates 100 customers downstairs, 30 outside and 40 upstairs, which also features a dedicated bar, affording eaters the perfect spot to match burgers with beers or to have an after lunch aperitif.
And being the fourth Burger Project to hit Melbourne, they’ve taken on board new forms of delivery. Instead of shifting your feet at the counter waiting for your meal, you can grab a table right after ordering and allow their GPS buzzers to do all the waiting.
Neil Perry, Culinary Director at Rockpool Dining Group, said the enhancements reflect the evolution of
fast-casual dining.
“Bourke Street marks three years, three states and the 12th store for the business, so it’s time for a few nips, tucks and enhancements,” Neil said.
“Customers expect even more from fast-casual, whether it’s being able to watch a game, settle in at the bar to explore an expanded beer menu, or having just a little more comfort in the overall experience.”
Classic self-serve soda dispensers will keep you constantly refreshed while numerous large-screen TVs tuned in to sport and music channels augment a jaunty atmosphere.
As for alcoholic beverages, the opening of this Bourke Street eatery launches with an expanded craft beer portfolio, showcasing an ever-changing local craft beer menu and recommended burger-beer pairings to the menu at all 13 stores in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Up to four beers are expected to be on tap at each venue.
And as for food, the burger menu of 11 irreplaceable classics shows off the best local and interstate produce. Their meat patties are 36-month, grass-fed Cape Grim beef from Tasmania, their poultry comes from Lilydale free-range chicken, and their vegetarian option is crumbed confit mushroom.
However, a new limited edition series will pop up every eight weeks.
Burger Project on Bourke Street launches with The Mexican, which is loaded with chilli salsa, guacamole, lettuce, tomato and sour cream, and pairs perfectly with the classic Mexican lager Cerveza Tecate. Korean and Japanese Limited Edition flavours are in development.
Burger Project on Bourke Street will open on January 10, and to celebrate the opening, a life-size model cow will be painted by a local artist and auctioned for charity.
The upstairs lounge can also be hired for parties, events and presentations.
