The Astor Grill
The Astor Grill is an award-winning Hobart establishment which first opened its doors back in 1982. Little has changed since its opening, retaining classic formal decor and the great 10-strong steak menu offering variety. The Astor Grill team take pride in the locally sourced, fresh ingredients used. If you’re stuck on what to order, we recommend The Steak Astor ($54) which is a 200g aged, grass-fed, eye fillet served with blue cheese sauce and cheese crumbs. Plus, don’t forget to also check out their constantly changing wine menu too.

Located in an old sandstone warehouse, the restaurant has a large sample of meat and steak all cooked over a big charcoal fire. Steak is their specialty and each cut is carefully selected and aged. The menu offers some twists on the classics – we recommend trying the dry-aged Scotch Fillet with a side of Beer Battered Chips and Roasted Beets with walnut and goats cheese. Plus, be sure to stick around and spoon your way through their Churros Banana Split.
