The Victoria Park Hotel has been standing proud on Albany Highway since 1927, entertaining diners and bar-goers with classic pub-style feeds and affordable beers and cocktails. However, the Victoria Park Hotel as we once knew it, has had a facelift; and it is well worth visiting.

One of the more exciting updates, thanks to the newly appointed head chef Andre Nunes, is the tangy Brazilian twist he has crafted into many of the classic bar snacks and meals. The menu is centred around grazing and is designed to be shared; so, you really should look no further than their ‘to share’ menu. You can expect a selection of plates that are packed full of flavour and unique ingredient pairings, like the Cuban Cigars ($15) which are made with pulled pork, Hungarian salami, smoked ham, pickles, Dijon mustard, cheddar and chimichurri aioli. Don’t let the long list of ingredients full you – the saltiness of the salami, ham and pork perfectly contrasts the zest and tanginess of the Dijon mustard. The other share meals highlights include the Loaded Fries ($15) with pulled brisket or the Crumbed Haloumi Cubes ($16) which are perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft in the centre.

If you are looking for something heartier (or you want a meal all to yourself) then there are a number of delicious burgers, salads and large-style dishes to pick from. The ‘grill’ section will draw those who salivate for a perfectly cooked piece of meat, like a 300g piece of Scotch fillet or a 300g piece of Brazilian rump cooked with your choice of garlic, red wine jus, pepper or mushroom sauce.

As for the drinks, there are a number of beers on tap including Feral Hop Hog, Little Creatures and James Squire as well as your favourite wines and ciders to pick from. Better yet, the cocktail list features an array of refreshing concoctions that are ideal for the warm days set to roll into Perth this summer. For a zest hit, The Vic ($15) will hit the spot, made with botanical gin, melon, mint and aromatic tonic water. And if you’re after something a litter lighter, cocktails featuring cucumber gin, elderflower, grapefruit and passionfruit liqueur are sure to quench your thirst. 

Along with Victoria Park Hotel’s menu refresh, the interiors have had a slight renovation as well. While the pub is still within its historical foundations, the space is far more open and inviting, with plenty of plants and unique wood panelling filling the room.
