Opal Nera is reawakening the spirits!
The famed Distillerie Francoli, Opal Nera’s creators, have given themselves a luxurious purple facelift while launching a refreshing version of their famed sambuca liqueur. Plus, stick around to learn how you can make Opal Nera’s Berlin Martini at home.
In addition to the new vibrant colour, tipplers will also be able to find a unique code to crack on the new Opal Nera bottle. Playing on its mysterious point of difference, this code lies beneath the logo and also sits on the bottle’s neck, which consumers can decipher using a sequence of letters and numbers that appear on the rim to reveal the words ‘dark secret’.
At first glance, Opal Nera’s new bottle design looks like black frosted glass. But, once you start pouring, drinkers will be amazed by the vibrant purple hue of this mystifying liquid. The design, created by renowned bottle branding specialists Denomination, coincides with Australia’s explosion in the popularity of Insta-worthy liqueurs and aperitifs.
“This is a beautiful design solution that captures people’s attention,” said Nigel Brown, Commercial Director of Gruppo Francoli. “It is still recognisably Opal Nera but has been brought up to date so that it will appeal to the modern consumer.
“It’s a sophisticated response that plays to Opal Nera’s distinctive qualities, making it stand out in a sea of conservative brands. We love the way consumers are now drawn in and taken on a journey of discovery, with layered packaging that engages bartenders and drinkers and makes Opal Nera a memorable experience.”
President of the Piemonte-based Distillerie Francoli, Alessandro Francoli, conceived the idea of this revolutionary 80’s drink on his honeymoon. Since then, Opal Nera has achieved considerable international fame.
The distinctive taste of Opal Nera is the result of a delicate blend of spices including star anise and green aniseed, orange blossom, coriander, cinnamon, cloves and lemons from Sicily, Italy. Whilst the black spices provide its complexity, it’s the elderberries that provide Opal Nera with its unique purple hue.
Opal Nera retails for $49.99 and is available to purchase at Dan Murphy’s.
