As the weather heats up, the latest concoctions from around the world and our backyard drop onto the market, hoping to quench your summer-induced thirst. So whether you like to spritz yourself, be flowered in an array of botanical bound gins or top your bar up with the newest collaborations, we’ve found 11 new alcohol releases that will be sure to keep you sizzled this summer!
Archie Rose Two-Act Gin
Launching earlier this month, Sydney-grown Archie Rose Distilling Co. collaborated with one of the city’s most famed monuments, the Sydney Opera House, to create two new gins perfect for the warmer months and to end the decade. The two-act release, Outside Gin and Inside Gin, were formed in celebration of the beauty, diversity and creativity of Australia’s leading icon. Outside Gin is accented with lemon-scented gum, white grapefruit and native seaweed. Whereas tasters of the Inside Gin will find an array of botanicals including thyme, apricot, raspberry and strawberry. This is one release you definitely want to add to your collection.
The Botanist
Formed from the western coastline region of Islay in Scotland, The Botanist is a dry gin that encapsulates the true characteristics of the Bruichladdich Distillery in the UK. Tasting the invigorating spirit, drinkers will find nine classic gin varietals mixed with 22 wild Islay botanicals which are handpicked from the surrounding region. Expect a distinct and complex floral gin that provides a true taste of the wind-swept hills that are brushed with salty notes thanks to its surrounding bays. Each sip of The Botanist will be a taste of the Islay in every glass.
Curatif Archie Rose Espresso Martini
A lot of things come in a can, but we can assure you that this is the tastiest. Forget heading to your nearest bar or prepping your ingredients at home with dissatisfying instant coffee. Now, thanks to Curatif and Archie Rose Distilling Co., Australians will have the opportunity to enjoy an espresso martini without the hefty price tag. Available to purchase at BWS, coffee lovers will be able to enjoy the tastes of an espresso martini mixed with notes of toffee and cocoa. Just chill, pour, shake to get some froth and then enjoy – it’s that easy (and delicious).
The Dirty Bucha of Byron
If you love the fermented taste of kombucha and the kick from vodka, we’ve got the perfect treat for you. We present you with The Dirty Bucha of Byron, an alcoholic kombucha grown in the sunny city of Byron Bay. Distilled with premium vodka from Cape Byron Distillery, The Dirty Bucha of Byron sees a refreshing mixture of tropical kombucha on the palate. Perfect for the warmer months, this premix drink is available to purchase from participating BWS stores around Australia or online.
Disaronno wears Diesel
This isn’t a stitch-up. Two of our favourite brands have partnered. To celebrate its seventh collaboration, the worlds favourite Italian liqueur has partnered with iconic global streetwear brand, Diesel, to create its customised limited edition bottle, Disaronno wears Diesel. Still made using the iconic taste of Disaronno amaretto, drinkers, collectors and followers will be able to purchase the limited edition bottle that’s wrapped in a denim pattern to represent Diesel’s signature textile. Available at Dan Murphy’s.
Kellogg's Corn Flakes Nitro Milkshake IPA
Name a more iconic duo. Just in time for summer, Australia’s most loved cereal brand, Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, has partnered with One Drop Brewing Co. to create an IPA – perfect for those beer drinkers who love the renowned cereal reminiscent of their childhood. The local microbrewery, One Drop Brewing Co. used the taste behind Corn Flakes as their inspiration for their newest line. Tasters can expect a creamy, full-bodied sweet beer with hints of ripe strawberry, passionfruit, coconut and mango.
Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum & Cola
Australia’s most loved rum, Sailor Jerry, has now released their newest instalment to their collection, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum & Cola. Combining a perfect and refreshing blend of Sailor Jerry Caribbean Rum with cola, this spiced rum premix is perfect for those late nights in summer with friends by the water or when frying up a couple of snags on the barbeque. Named in honour of Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins, the Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum & Cola is made the old-school way – bold and smooth.
Smirnoff Infusions
If you’re in search of a lighter alternative this summer, look no further than Smirnoff Infusions – the newest range of flavoured vodka created by one of the world’s most renowned vodka brands. Available in Passionfruit & Lime and Cucumber, Lime & Mint, the two new releases both feature an impressive new low-ABV (20%) as well as their low-calorie count perfect for the warmer months. Thanks to the infused natural botanicals, both releases contain less than 40 calories per serve and is perfect to be enjoyed with soda water and garnished with of cucumber, lime, mint or passionfruit – the ultimate summer taste.
SOFI Spritz
Australians love aperitivo, and now, Australians can enjoy an Australian made, all-natural spritz minus the over 20-hour flight to Europe. SOFI Spritz was inspired by classic European cocktails. And after one too many holidays, the creator, Tommy Maclean partnered with winemaker Simon Gilbert to recreate a European spritz with a modern Australian twist. Expect flavours such as Lemon & Elderflower, White Peach & Ginger, Blood Orange & Bitters as well as Grapefruit & Lavender. There’s no need to mix your SOFI Spritz, this drink can be enjoyed straight from the bottle!
Tanglin Gin
From the creators behind Singapore’s first award-winning gin distillery, we present you with Tanglin Gin, a taste of southern Asia that you can now enjoy in the comfort of your own home. To cap off 2019, Tanglin Gin has released two expressions part of their collection: Orchid Gin and Mandarin Chilli Gin. Using unique Asian flavours, Tanglin Gin sees the use of Australian ingredients for their releases. As for the taste, Orchid Gin sees a botanical combination of green unripe mango, vanilla orchid, orange, vanilla beans and dendrobium (orchid). For a more feisty flavour, Mandarin Chilli Gin provides a kick on the palate with a combination of chilli and ginger to lift taste buds and provide a slight tingle on the lips. Unico Mando
The team behind Applewood Gin and Unico Zelo wines are giving us Unico MANDO. It’s the true ugly duckling story of the alcohol world. Like their previous delicious concoctions which began with Unico Cello (a limoncello liqueur crafted from lemons that would usually go to waste), Unico MANDO is made from the large portion of juicy and delicious Dekapon mandarins that are typically rejected within the supply chain, to never reach consumers. Better yet Unico MANDO is the perfect refreshing, sweet and feel-good drop to serve in you summer spritz. It’s made of hand-peeled Dekapon mandarins and turned into high-grade grape-based alcohol, then rested for 6-weeks to get its delicious taste.
