Hello Auntie
With two locations in Sydney – one in Marrickville and the other in Darling Square – we just could not resist on mentioning Hello Auntie in our list of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Sydney. Their menus are laden with traditional dishes as well as a few contemporary and quirky concoctions. Think sauteed red prawn, thin egg noodle, fresh tomato, cured beef and X.O sauce or ‘vegan phở’ vegetable stock, rice noodles, shiitake, cauliflower, broccoli, tofu. A must try!

Luho
Translating directly to ‘hello’, Luho is famed as one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Crows Nest. A feel good and overall good time eatery, Luho brings a funky face to the lower North Shore dining scene. Boasting a lovely mix of tasty bites, inventive large plates and traditional-style curries, Luho is also designed to share. Think prawn and wonton tacos topped with mango and chilli, indulgent roti wraps, open-faced pork-filled crepes and the tiger prawn sambal with eggplant and tomato. Yum!

Marrickville Pork Roll
If you ask anyone who lives in Marrickville where the best place to go for lunch is, they are likely to point you towards Marrickville Pork Roll. It’s a quick, easy and ultra tasty way to satisfy your grumbly stomach. As expected, they specialise in rolls, filled with your choice of sliced pork, roast pork (with crackle), chicken, tuna and even pulled beef. Each roll is generously lathered with pâté and butter and topped with salt and pepper. One of the best Vietnamese eateries in Sydney!

Red Lantern
Red Lantern is a homely restaurant located on Riley Street in Darlinghurst. It’s interior evokes a family-oriented vibe matched with a serene style. And when the aromas linger in the dining room, it’s like heaven. The menu captures the true family tradition of cooking for friends while daring to be different at times. We recommend the Ca Ri De, which is a secret goat curry dish created by the Nguyen family behind Red Lantern.

Tan Viet Noodle House
When you’re looking for a low cost, full-flavoured Vietnamese degustation, be sure to visit Tan Viet Noodle House in Cabramatta. Let’s be honest, it’s one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Cabramtta and Sydney as a whole. You don’t come here for the feng shui, you come here for good food in a vibrant atmosphere. We highly recommend gorging on their crispy skin chicken, served with dry egg noodles which can be enhanced with a dash of fish sauce.

VN Street Foods
If you’re thinking of the best Vietnamese in Marrickville, chances are you’re thinking of VN Street Food. Located in the heart of Marrickville’s vibrant Vietnamese strip along Illawarra Road – a place commonly called Little Vietnam. Out of the half dozen phở-inspired eateries in the vicinity, this looks, tastes and acts like a street eatery that are well-known back in Vietnam. VN Street Foods is famous for their bespoke lunch boxes filled with Vietnamese specialties. But, they also do traditional dishes like phở and vermicelli noodle salads.

14 North 108 East is a new staple for south-west Sydney. Residing in Leppington, 14 North 108 East’s vibrant Vietnamese and pan-Asian inspired menu focuses on share plates for all-day dining in a casual, fun space. On top of this, here you’ll also find Instagrammable cocktails and an exceptional coffee menu encompassing the world’s best brewing methods. The venue’s name is geographical coordinates for the Vietnamese city, Pleiku, where the owners also have family history. A must visit in 2023!
